So, I was planning on posting some more deviations today, but I had a bit of a setback.
I spilled port wine all over my macbook pro. I cleaned it out best I could without a complete tear down, but the keyboard is locking up and the display port is being a little wonky. SO, it gets disassembled.
I gave Apple a call and discovered it would be obscenely expensive to have them fix it. The keyboard would cost over ¥52,000 and, if they needed to replace the logic board because of the display adapter, it'd rise to ¥120,000. Oh, and spills aren't covered on the Apple Care warranty, obviously.
So, this is as far as I've gotten so far:
I just got in the last tool I needed to complete the tear-down, which I'll do tonight. Clean it, reassemble it, and hope for the best.
When I'm done the tear-down I'll include another picture of all the pieces, just for you nerds out there
Edit: As promised, here's a picture of Alice completely taken apart (except the display assembly. I really didn't feel the need to open that unnecessarily). She works just fine now. Surgery was successful!
Note: I am an experienced computer professional, very knowledgeable in proper handling procedures for sensitive and delicate electronics. I also have the disassembly manual for this macbook. If you own a MacBook, do not attempt to disassemble it yourself. The parts inside are very delicate. Also, it will void your warranty.
